This website is operated by Grace Whitaker, a researcher and product developer based in Germany. Abacus Mind is the name of the project.

What we collect and why

This notice covers two things: this website (abacus-mind.com) and the research survey linked from it.

On this website, if you enter your email address to join the waitlist for a product, we collect that email address and which product you expressed interest in. We use this only to notify you when that product becomes available. We do not send marketing emails or share your address with anyone.

In the research survey (hosted on Tally and distributed via the Prolific platform), we collect your responses to questions about your work and attention habits, your reactions to product concepts, and your willingness to pay. Responses are linked to a Prolific participant ID for payment purposes only. We do not collect your name. We do not collect any medical diagnosis information — any questions about neurodivergence are self-identification only and entirely optional.

We also collect basic page interaction data when you visit this website — specifically, which product cards you click and in what order. This is used only to understand which products are most interesting to visitors. No cookies are set. No advertising networks are involved.

Legal basis

For waitlist signups, our legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You give this by entering your email and clicking the button. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us.

For survey responses, our legal basis is the performance of a research task in the public interest (Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR). Participation is voluntary and you may stop at any time.

For page interaction data (click events), our legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding which products to build first (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). No personal data is attached to these events beyond the Prolific participant ID, which is used solely to link survey and page data for the same session.

How long we keep your data

Waitlist email addresses are kept until the relevant product launches or until you ask us to remove your address, whichever comes first.

Survey responses are kept for the duration of the research project and for a maximum of three years after publication of any results based on them, in line with standard research data retention practice.

Page interaction data is kept for no longer than six months.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@abacus-mind.com. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Germany this is the relevant Landesbeauftragter für Datenschutz. For Saxony: www.saechsdsb.de.

This website does not use cookies. No tracking pixels, no advertising networks, no analytics scripts.

Changes to this notice

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not retroactively change how we use data you have already provided without seeking fresh consent.
